Anointing of the Sick
“By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.” (LG 11)
Anointing of the Sick can be received when someone is suffering from a major illness or disease, will undergo a serious operation, or has reach a very old age. The sacrament can be received again when circumstances change and lead us once again close to the possibility of death. It is wise to try to get in contact with a priest sometime before someone will die so there is time for a priest to arrive.
If you or someone you know is in need of the Anointing of the Sick, please call the parish office.
