The Vincentian Job Description
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me."  -- Matthew 25:40

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul needs volunteers from all St. Katharine Drexel Conference churches. Our assistance often takes the forms of referrals to other organizations which guide people in improving their current situations. At other times, we provide financial assistance to allow them to stay in their homes, avoid utility turn-offs, purchase food, etc. There are also those moments when people only want someone who will listen to their troubles and provide advice. You will receive training, but learning quickly comes quickly through information at the meetings. There are also many experienced volunteers readily available to consult with regarding any situation. This ministry will not take much of your time but will be greatly rewarding since you will connect with people during their most difficult periods.

Although we strive to help those in need, a major goal of the Society is our own spiritual development. This is assisted through our work and Spiritual Adviser, Deacon Garcia, who attends the monthly meetings and provides very insightful spiritual reflections relating to our ministry.
